For the sake of this post, we’ll evaluate Adobe/Omniture SC
vs. Google Analytics. This post is written assuming that the vendor knows the
advantages of their product compared to Google. For an objective comparison of
the two, please see the first referenced link.
1.
What’s different about your solution vs.
Google/Yahoo?
a.
We have the ability to track multiple variables
and to breakdown reports with any metrics.
b.
We can track personalized events, conversions,
and traffic.
c.
Easily setup funnel reports straight from the SC
interface.
2.
Are you 100% ASP, or do you offer a software
version?
a.
We are
100% SAS/ASP and have no plans to provide a local version.
3.
What data capture mechanisms do you use?
a.
SC can
capture data from logs, JavaScript, Flash elements, and more.
4.
Can you calculate the TCO for your tool?
a.
I couldn't calculate TCO since this is a
hypothetical scenario, but I’d imagine an Adobe rep standing in a business
would be able to do so.*
5.
What sort of support do you offer – what is
free, and what is fee-based?
a.
I was unable to find support details beyond the
Adobe boards for SC. However, I can see from the product overview available on
Adobe that there is a fee-based support provided.
6.
What tools in your tool allow me to segment
data?
a.
Several. Including real-time segmentation from
both predefined and custom segments, as well as pre-built and custom reporting
and social media segmenting.
7.
What data import/export options do I have?
a.
Using SC SAINT classifications, you can import
and export data from a myriad of systems.
i. What
is a SAINT – see this link: http://blogs.adobe.com/digitalmarketing/analytics/classifications-aka-saint-inside-omniture-sitecatalyst/
8.
Do you allow me to integrate data from other
tools?
a.
Yes! Using SC SAINT classifications, you can
integrate data from all sorts of 3rd party systems. However, once
imported, this data cannot be removed.
9.
Can you name two new features coming within the
next two years?
a.
I cannot, since I am not an Adobe vendor.
However, I have little doubt that they aren’t working to enhance the product.
After all, it's a revenue stream for them.*
10. Why
did clients leave?
a.
I cannot answer this question.*
* COULDN'T FIND / PROVIDE A REALISTIC ANSWER
